About The Event
Join us for this thought-provoking session of BNSK - Bharat Samvad: A Policy Dialogue Series for Inclusive Bharat, titled “Healing from the Margins: Challenges and Tribal Knowledge in Advancing Health Equity in India.” This important lecture will be delivered by Ms. Fellicita Pohsnem, a doctoral scholar from TISS, Mumbai, whose extensive fieldwork with tribal communities in Meghalaya has illuminated the lived realities and traditional healing practices of the Khasi and Jaintia tribes.
In this session, Ms. Pohsnem will explore the systemic challenges tribal communities face in accessing quality healthcare—ranging from geographical and economic barriers to cultural exclusion. She will also spotlight the vital role of indigenous knowledge systems and traditional healers in delivering holistic care at the grassroots. By drawing from her firsthand experiences and research, the speaker will outline policy gaps and propose inclusive strategies to bridge health inequities through culturally sensitive models.
